Whew....have I been on a hiatus or what?! My last post here was July 30, 2009, that is a long time for certain.

I have had some family issues that needed to be dealt with, still have issues and they are being dealt with but I'm back on track with my L'Bri business and more.

In August I attended L'Bri's annual convention and had a great time meeting other L'Bri consultants, and learning lots. We have some new products that are absolutely outstanding!

I am even more excited about my L'Bri business and have many plans to build this business big and bigger!

After the L'Bri Convention of 2009, I was able to visit my best friend who lived in Wisconsin at the time and had an amazing discovery! I DO have a creative bone in my body!!

For years I told myself and others I don't have a creative bone in my body. My girlfriend had been telling me for years that I could make jewelry, I didn't believe it then.

While I was visiting her, we celebrated our birthdays and she gave me a necklace and bracelet set that she had made. It is a beautiful set, but the first time I had put it on it broke.

I told my friend she would have to fix it for me before I left to go back home. No problem, she said, and proceeded to repair the jewelry.

WOW, were my eyes opened, that looked very easy to do. When I finally made it back home, I decided to try it for myself. I purchased the supply I needed, and wallah....I created!!

You have a choice to make in this world, actually lots of choices to make. Isn't God so good that He gives us our own free will?

Who do you serve? Is it God? Is it man/yourself? Is it your job/career? Is it your husband/wife? God is so good to give us the free will to choose for ourselves who we serve in this lifetime.

I choose God and do my best to serve Him in all I do. That can get a bit difficult when worldly influences are smacking you in the face. It is even more difficult when those influences infect your family.

When things are difficult and the world is crashing in you have a choice to make. Do you choose to go with the Truth, which is the Bible, or do you choose to go with your husband, your job, or even yourself?

The choices you make today can affect your life and the lives of others. You may not notice right away how that choice is affecting others, but it could be either good or bad.

God created each and every one of us beautiful and unique in our own way. He breathed us into being and loves each and every one of us. We have God's love because He is love. He created us in His image(Genesis 1:27), so we also are love.

Read 1 Corinthians chapter 13 as it is written, then read it a second time and every place you see the word love, replace it with God. Then read it a third time, replacing the word love with your own name.

I heard this yesterday in church, and have never thought of reading it like that. And it is truth, is that not great?

Ingredients To Avoid for Safe Skin Care

Propolyene Gycol - 'industrial anti-freeze' and the major ingredient in brake and hydraulic fluid. Even bigger ewww!

Isn't it amazing what goes into some of the products you apply to your skin? Did you know that your body will absorb 5 pounds of chemicals from skin care and make-up per year. Whew, never thought of it like that.

Piano Keyboard Lessons at 45!!

In a previous post I mentioned I am living one of my dreams by taking piano keyboard lessons, and I am going to post on my progress every so often. It is kinda funny that I went right back to the being nervous around the teacher thing.

I've been at the piano keyboard lessons for approximately 1 month thus far, and Chris, my teacher stated it helps that I have played instruments in my past and have a working knowledge of the piano. He said playing an instrument is like riding a bicycle.

Yeah right, I'm not so sure I could even get my mouth right to play a tenor saxaphone again (that was my instrument through high school).

I am very critical of myself, and don't feel I am doing well yet at the piano keyboard lessons, but Chris said I'm doing ok. I am having to learn how to read music all over again. See what happens when your almost 45, memories don't come back so easy.

I would never have thought I would be nervous around Chris, who is also a friend, but when I am at my lessons I get all discombobulated (my own word, I know, not proper english). It is almost bringing back memories from when I was a student in high school.

When I practice here at home, I think I am doing ok, then when it is lesson time I flub. I am learning to play simple songs like Jesus Loves Me, and God is so Good. Doing the melodies only I can do ok, but then add the harmony and hmm, well, my left hand does not want to be doing something different than my right hand it seems.

I am learning 'fingercizes' to build up the strength in my fingers, and to get my left hand to cooperate. Getting my left hand to work it getting easier as I do these 'fingercizes', and I am not looking at the piano keyboard as much.

Chris has told me it does get easier with practice, so I am off to practice the piano keyboard lesson I had last night.

Did you know when your skin is moisturized it reveals an even more naturally beautiful you? There are those of you with a certain skin type who don't believe their skin needs to be moisturized. (you know who I'm talking to here)

Here is a story of two prunes, to show you how L'Bri aloe based moisturizers will work on your skin.

This first prune was kept in a container of mineral oil, which is one of the most widely found ingredients in over-the-counter moisturizers. Notice how heavy it looks and wrinkled too.

Aloe Based Skin Care for a Naturally Beautiful You

For a naturally beautiful you, knowing what is in the skin care you use is of utmost importance. Do you know what the ingredients are in your skin care?

Before using L'Bri Pure n' Natural, as you know from previous posts, I never looked at the ingredients in the skin care I was using. No wonder I looked so awful! I did a bit of research on the products I was using, and oh my: icky, icky!

For a naturally beautiful you, know what the ingredients in your skin care are. Here's the ingredient list for another popular product I have used in the past:

Mineral Oil, Water, Beeswax, Ceresin, Sodium Borate, Fragrance, Carbomer.

Notice that the first ingredient is mineral oil, which means that is at least 50% of what is in the bottle/jar. Do you know what mineral oil can do to your skin? Mineral oil can:

attract dirt
cause blackheads and zits,
speed up the aging process by accelerating free radical damage

Wow, and that is just the first ingredient. Who wants that for their skin? For a naturally beautiful you try samples of L'Bri Pure n' Natural aloe based skin care.

Now notice the second ingredient: water. Of course water is not harmful, it is just a cheap filler that alot of companies use. For the majority of skin care out there, water is the FIRST ingredient. Water does NOT do anything to help your skin.

The ingredient list I used in this article came from an actual product I have in my house (should have pitched it a long, long time age). Consider this, there are only 7 ingredients in this product, 3 of those ingredients can cause a rucus for your skin, 1 ingredient does nothing to help your skin.

Whew, four out of seven ingredients. That doesn't sound like good odds, does it?

Are You Living Your Dreams?

So, are YOU living your dreams? I was asked this the other day, and I can honestly say YES, absolutely I am living my dreams.

Some of my dreams have yet to be fulfilled, and with time they will. When I was younger, or even just one year ago, my answer to that question would have definitely been a resounding NO.

Before I started working with L'Bri Pure n' Natural, I didn't give much thought to living my dream. I truly didn't have the time or the money to even think to dream. That was a big mistake on my part: living your dream can push you forward to having that dream and more.

Ever since I can remember, I've wanted to learn to play the keyboard. I am now living that dream! I started taking lessons approximately one month ago. Whew, I can tell you getting my left hand to do something different than my right hand on the keyboard is just a bit interesting.

I am so excited to be able to take these lessons and learn something I never thought would be possible. Time and money were issues and I had tried teaching myself: that just wasn't working at all.

Of course, I am nowhere near being proficient with only one month's worth of lessons, but I have no doubt I will eventually be able to play, and maybe even lead worship at church. I can play Jesus Loves Me, and a couple other songs (melodies only thus far). We are now getting into learning harmony, interesting and fun for me.

Another dream of mine was to become more involved with my church. I am now living that dream too. I can schedule my L'Bri business around my life and do what I want to do. I sure couldn't do that working for someone else.

I've dreamed of going on a vacation with my family for a long time, money and time were issues. This year (next month, in fact) we are living my dream and going on a family vacation. That is possible because of my L'Bri business. This will be the first family vacation I can remember actually going somewhere.

These are just a few small dreams of mine that are being fulfilled. There are BIG DREAMS of mine that are in the process of being fulfilled, thanks first to God, for putting L'Bri Pure n' Natural in my 'path'. Second to L'Bri Pure n' Natural: products that work and a company who cares.

Know Your Skin for a Naturally Beautiful You

Knowing and understanding your skin, the bodies largest organ, will help you to achieve a naturally beautiful you. An effective natural skin care program begins with understanding what factors and influences affect the appearance and condition of your skin.

The skin is 'built' in layers, kinda like a sandwich. It covers an average of eighteen square feet and weighs approximately seven pounds. Now THAT is a lot of skin!

The layers of your skin are called the epidermis, dermis, and the subcutaneous layers.

The epidermis is the naturally beautiful outer layer of skin. It is what we see when we look into the mirror. Errr....well, maybe we don't always see the naturally beautiful part (I sure didn't for a long long time).

The epidermis is the part of your skin that will blister, flake, burn, wrinkle and break out. It is composed of tightly packed, scale-like cells which are continually being shed. An entirely new epidermis is formed approximately every twenty-eight days and this rate will slow as you age. This shedding process is why exfoliation is important for a naturally beautiful appearance.

Melanin in the epidermis gives your skin its color and it protects the underlying layers from the damaging effects of the sun. The epidermis is covered with a thin layer of natural oil and perspiration that is called the acid mantle.

The acid mantle has an average pH of 4.5 to 5.5, and it protects your skin against bacteria. Oily skin is usually less acidic; dry skin tends to be more acidic. You need to keep your skin's pH balanced to keep it protected. A freshener or toner will help keep the pH balanced in your skin for a naturally beautiful you.

Know Your Skin Type

Do you know what your skin type is? Do you need help figuring out what your skin type is? Many of you will know exactly what your skin type is, and then there are those who are just a bit confused by it all.

Knowing your skin type will help you to determine the best products to use in your skin care routine. It will also help you to care for and beautify your skin to the utmost!

Our skin is affected by many different factors, with heredity playing the largest piece of the puzzle. The environment, exposure to sun, wind and the outdoors all affect your skin. Unfortunately, we are all exposed to toxins and pollutants in the air and waters daily. Your diet and even stress will affect how your skin looks and feels.

Due to all these circumstances your skin can look aged beyond your years. L'Bri Pure n' Natural offers you a solution to combat these circumstances. You will be amazed at how beautiful your skin looks and feels.

There are 3 basic skin types:

Dry
Oily
Combination

thicker, firmer, and less sensitive than other skin types
tendency to have clogged pores, blackheads and blemishes/pimples

Combination Skin: Combination skin refers to skin with two or more distinctly different characteristics on different parts of the face. Avoid mixing skin care products. Use a skin care system intended to work together to maintain your skins natural pH balance.
Drink plenty of water. Get into the habit of drinking 8 glasses of water a day, it will definitely help to keep your skin (and other parts) hydrated.
Avoid products containing drying alcohol. (rubbing/isopropyl, ethyl, ethanol = drying alcohols; cetyl and cetearyl = non drying)
Avoid cleansers that suds. The suds are caused by detergents that will strip your skin of necessary protection.
Avoid products containing artificial coloring agents, synthetic fragrances, parabens, propylene glycol, waxes, mineral oil, or sodium laurel sulfates. These ingredients can clog pores, cause allergic reactions, and result in an unhealthy complexion.

Concealer sticks are used to cover those slight imperfections found on your skin that you just want to dissappear. Broken capillaries, dark aging circles under your eyes, and, of course, there are those nasty, blaring red pimples that appear out of nowhere.

You can use the concealer stick either over or even under your foundation. Use it under your foundation for minimum coverage, over your foundation for even more coverage. Use the concealer stick both under and over foundation for maximum coverage.

Here are the pictures I wanted you to see, and share with others if you want, that show the process we've been going through with my son Landon's eczema.
This is at his worst point.
Today his face is much better. Do you know the what is in the skin care products you currently use? Almost all of us are certain to look at the ingredient lists of food products we purchase, but skin care is another story.

Until I started to use L'Bri Pure n' Natural, I didn't look at ingredients in skin care. Your eyes will be opened by knowing what is in your product and what effect it can have.

It is amazing what is put into most skin care on the market today, even those claiming to be natural. There is a site on this world wide web http://www.cosmeticsdatabase.com/ where you can check the products currently being used for safety.

I checked the products I was formerly using and was blown away by the results. The product I formerly used claimed to be a natural product, and I found out there was very little 'natural' to it. I am going to list a just few of the ingredients in the products I was using

Sodium Laurel Sulfate - This is a popular ingredient used in thousands of cosmetic products on the market. It is a strong degreaser that dries skin and hair and can cause contact eczema in some individuals. Has also been known to cause severe inflammation of the dermaepidermal tissue.
Propolyene Glycol - this ingredient is derived from petroleum (ewwww yuck!) and can easily penetrate the skin and weaken protein and cellular structure. It is olorless, viscous liquid used in antifreeze solutions (double eww yuck).
Acetone - this ingredient I found in the toner I formerly used. Do you know a common use for acetone? That's right, it is commonly used in nail polish remover. This colorless, volatile liquid is often used in astringents, fresheners or clarifying lotions. It is extremely toxic and will dehydrate the skin, which will speed up the aging process (who wants that?).
Mineral Oil - This ingredient I found listed first in the moisturizer I was using. It is the most universally used ingredient in skin care products and can attract dirt and cause blackheads and eruptions. It can accelerate free radical damage, again speeding up the againg process.

The Price is Right (sets)

This is a great game to play if you have alot of product sitting around not being used. Set up 3 different product sets on a table with envelopes in front of every one. In the envelope have the cost of the products if they were purchased as individual items, and the discounted price if guests purchase as a set.

When it is time to play the game, have each guest guess the price of the set. The three guests who are closest to the actual discounted prices are the winners. The Ingredient Game

Go through your list of ingredients to avoid such as Sodium Laurel Sulfates (SLS), mineral oil, parafin, beeswax, SD alcohol 40, mineral oil, FD & C dyes, and fragrance. Educating through In Home Parties or Shows

So, you have decided to join the L'Bri Pure n' Natural 'team' and signed on as a consultant. The thing to do now is find people who are willing to hold in home parties for you. These folks will be your first hostesses, customers, and possible recruits.

Many of your friends and acquaintances will be willing to help you build your business by hosting your first shows. These friends will benefit by holding shows because the hostess incentives are fantastic with L'Bri.

Your first 'job' with those who are willing to hold shows is to set a date. Then you need to teach or coach your new hostesses how to have the best show possible. You are teaming up with your hostess, because neither you or your hostess can do it alone.

Ask you hostess what she hopes to gain from her show and how much product she would like to earn? How many guests can she invite? The more you coach her on speaking with her friends and drumming up excitement, the more successful her show will be.

Your L'Bri Grand Opening show is a very big day!! This is the first day of your new business and you will be introducing your new business to friends and associates.

So what can you do to make this the best Grand Opening possible for yourself? The first step, of course, is to PLAN. All great parties require planning, lists, and attention to the details. Your Grand Opening does NOT have to be an elaborate affair, but you do want to make sure that everyone has fun and learns alot about L'Bri Pure n' Natural.

Here are some basics to include when you are planning your Grand Opening:

Set your date for 2 weeks after you have signed on with L'Bri - plan for your show to last approximately 2 hours. What time would you like to hold your first show?
Get your house ready - make list of what you need to do to prepare your house, then as you complete an item check it off your list.
Refreshments - What will you be serving your guests? Make your refreshments very simple and easy to prepare. Cheese and crackers make for fantastic party refreshments. Make a list of things to purchase, this helps tremendously.
Invite your guests - How many people can you invite to your Grand Opening? Make a prospect list today and start calling to let people know about your upcomming Business Opening.

THERE IS NOTHING THAT WILL HELP YOU TO SUCCEED MORE THAN THE BELIEF YOU HAVE IN YOURSELF AND THE PRODUCTS YOU REPRESENT!

Here is an example of a 30 second commercial, of course you will want to put this in your own words with your own personality:

You will want to start your conversations with some friendly chatter. Then proceed with:

"Hi there Jane, this is (your name here), How are you doing? I'm so excited, I just had to give you a call!"

"I've just started a new business (or venture, or new career). I was recently introduced to a line of pure and natural products called L'Bri that I have fallen in love with so much so that I have decided to educate others about this incredible product and company. Have you heard about L'Bri Pure n' Natural yet? It is an aloe-based skin care line that actually nourishes your skin from the inside out. Everyone is talking about it!"

To book a presention, you will want to continue the conversation with:

"Jane, what I love about L'Bri is that I get to give away free products when you invite me and a few of your friends into your home for a presentation. Once you learn about and see the results that L'Bri products give you, you won't want to use anything else on your skin! Would you be willing to introduce me to a few of your friends by hosting a presentation?"

USING YOUR COMMERCIAL WHEN YOU ARE OUT AND ABOUT

Prospects are all over. You will find prospects at the grocery store, little league games, church groups, doctor's office, malls, parking lots, and rummage sales, to name just a few. Be ready to introduce L'Bri to these prospects using your commerical.

The most important element is to simply start a conversation. You will be amazed at how many ways there are to begin talking to anyone, anywhere, anytime and anyplace.

A great way to start a conversation is to give a sincere compliment: "That brooch is gorgeous, I absolutely love the colors!" or "I love your hair, where do you get your hair done?"

After starting the conversation you will want to return to your memorized commercial:

"May I ask you a question? Have you heard about L'Bri Pure n' Natural? You haven't? Everyone is talking about it! L'Bri is a skin care and cosmetic company that I am introducing into this area. L'Bri is based on natural ingredients, using aloe vera as the first ingredient in each skin care product. Are you currently using anything special to take care of your skin? Are you happy with the results? Would you enjoy trying something that was more natural, and more beneficial to your skin than traditional, chemically based products? I would love to treat you to a 5 piece mini skin care set, would you be willing to give me your opinion on the product?"

"I can promise you that once you experience the results L'Bri products will give you, you will not want to use anything else on your skin!"

After she(or he) accepts the samples, be sure to explain how to properly use the skin care products and set up a date and time to follow-up with her.

Always be sure to pause after asking a question to let your prospect give an answer. And be sure to listen to questions they may have for you. And remember good communication is 50% talking and 50% listening.
